New Wave Snake-Eye Kit Open Box!

Brand new and released this week is the S.A.F.S. Space Type 2 Snake-Eye 1/20 scale kit by Wave. Insert Giddy Fanboy Giggle Here. :D

It really is cool, the stonking cover art with 2 Snake-Eyes engaged in space combat with an “Egg Eater” Space Craft in the background really set the mood for what awaits us in the box that has a very reassuring feeling of volume and heft that tells of much happy-happy-joy within.

I just happened to have an opportunity to visit Sensei Kow Yokoyama’s studio with Genzo “DrunkDog” Ihara-san and we both scored a couple of the first retail releases that had been delivered that day. Usually I’m a little shy about it but as Genzo was lining up for a signed box, well it would have been rude not to line up right!?! As per the photo name, Sensei Super Fan Service 3000. Never ceases to amaze me how much time and effort Yokoyama-san goes to for his fans!

A quick run through of the contents, my apologies that the photos haven’t turned out very well. Have never really had a reason to shoot box contents much before and only really know how to photograph WIP’s and finished models. Another modelling facet I will need to improve so just a few quick shots before someone much more patient and professional provides them for us. By early tomorrow morning I won’t have anything on the sprues anyway, this wants to get made NOW! ;)

Plus a couple of quick snaps of the Open Suit Yokoyama Sensei put together, he mentioned that this is from the kit plus some epoxy putty and 30 mins of effort on the modifications. Us mere mortals might take a little longer but then again maybe not for some of the highly skilled Maschinen Fans! Pilot is a slightly modified Brickworks Figure.

There we are, that’s what’s in the box and I am most pleased myself as a Maschinen Fan. The details are very crisp and clear and a marked improvement over the already excellent quality of the Nitto kit, the decals look great and the price is very competitive for the quality. Rather than yap about it though, will show through song as dance as I fumble this one together shortly!

Cheers,

Lin.K

So how does one place an order for a signed edition? ;)

Great box art (on both sides, in your case). Can’t wait to get my hands on mine!
